How do I find my Florida ORI number?

Start with the agency that asked for your prints. Online applications often print a form with the ORI already filled in. Paper packets list the ORI in the instructions. For many Department of Health professions, FL HealthSource publishes profession-specific ORI codes on its background screening page. DBPR lists ORIs for real estate, construction, and other DBPR licenses on its fingerprinting page. Never guess. Using the wrong ORI can send results to the wrong board, and you may have to pay to resubmit.

What happens if I use the wrong ORI number?

If you give the Livescan provider the wrong ORI, or no ORI at all, the agency that needs your results may never receive them. DBPR states that failure to provide an ORI, or providing an incorrect ORI, will prevent the department from receiving your fingerprint results. The applicant is responsible for giving the provider the correct code. Results usually cannot be redirected after submission. You may need a new submission with the right ORI, which means another provider fee and another set of government fees. What is Florida Livescan fingerprinting?

Livescan is electronic fingerprinting. Instead of rolling ink onto a card, your fingers are scanned on a glass plate and the images go to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. For most Florida Level 2 licenses, agencies require electronic submission through an FDLE-registered Livescan provider. You bring photo ID, your Social Security number or ITIN when required, and the correct ORI. The provider submits the prints to FDLE, and FDLE routes results to the agency tied to that ORI. Clearinghouse screenings also need a photograph taken at the appointment. Livescan is cleaner and usually faster than mailing ink cards. Ink FD-258 cards still matter when an agency or out-of-state process asks for a hard card instead of electronic submission.

Screenings go to FDLE electronically through Livescan or by converting a hard card. Clearinghouse-compliant providers also capture a photograph at the appointment. You still need the correct screening ORI, full legal name, address, Social Security number or Tax ID, date of birth, and other demographics the vendor must send with the prints. Official blank cards can be ordered through FBI CJIS supply channels. Many applicants also have a trained technician roll the prints onto stock cards. Poor quality, wrong demographics, or the wrong ORI on a card can delay a background check, so legible prints and accurate blocks matter as much as the ink itself.

What is an EFT fingerprint file for ATF eForms?

For ATF eForms such as an eForm 1, each responsible person can upload an electronic fingerprint file in that person's section of the form, or mail two FD-258 cards within ten days if no electronic file is provided. ATF guidance says the electronic file must use the .EFT extension, meet FBI electronic fingerprint specification 8.1.0, and stay under 12 MB. After upload, confirm the name and date of birth in the validation popup match the responsible person. How do I check my Florida Livescan fingerprint status?

FDLE's Civil Workflow Control System Transaction Status Search lets you look up that TCN online. DBPR and FL HealthSource both point applicants to that tool. Keep the TCN. Licensing boards often cannot pull it for you. Status in the FDLE tool shows whether FDLE has processed the submission. It does not replace your board's own application status page. If your board says results never arrived, contact the provider first and confirm the ORI used on the submission. A wrong ORI is a common reason an otherwise successful scan never shows up at the right agency.

What is a mobile notary in Florida?

A mobile notary is a Florida notary public who travels to the signer at home, work, a hospital, or another agreed location. Florida does not create a separate mobile commission.
